The canine planum nasale is the target of, or plays a significant role in multiple infectious, traumatic and immune mediated disease processes. However, many of these can appear clinically similar, which makes diagnostic and therapeutic decision making challenging. A stepwise approach to diagnostics, along with knowing when to biopsy and the common pitfalls associated with this can help get the diagnosis right, leading to better therapeutic outcomes. Therapeutic options for the common nasal diseases are covered briefly.
